The Efficacy of Nature...

Nature cleans air and environment through dilution, UV radiation, and oxidizing compounds. Traditional ventilation systems try to replicate these processes to improve indoor air quality, but they have significant limitations.

Ventilation systems try to achieve better IAQ by diluting the polluted air with fresh air intake from outside. This can only improve the IAQ to a certain level, as it is very energy- and therefore cost-intensive.

01. Constant Dilution

UV-radiation units in ventilation systems are limited by fast airflow, which reduces UV exposure time. They are also energy-intensive, costly, and can produce irritating ozone.

A few devices use oxidizing compounds for indoor air quality. Hydroxyl radicals are short-lived and ineffective, while H2O2 is toxic and unsuitable for continuous use.

(Resistant) Bacteria

Sources: Humans, animals, contaminated surfaces, HVAC systems. Accumulation Points: HVAC systems, bathrooms, kitchens, cafeterias. Health Risks: Common Issue: In healthcare facilities, bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus can cause infections, complicating patient recovery and increasing hospital stays. Severe Impact: The spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, such as MRSA, can lead to severe outbreaks. By 2050, antibiotic resistance could result in 10 million deaths annually worldwide, surpassing cancer as a leading cause of death.

Mold Spores

Sources: Damp walls, ceilings, floors, HVAC systems, water leaks. Accumulation Points: Basements, bathrooms, kitchens, moist storage areas, HVAC systems. Health Risks: Common Issue: In food production facilities, mold spores can contaminate products, leading to spoilage and foodborne illnesses. Severe Impact: Long-term exposure to mold in workplaces can lead to chronic respiratory conditions and significant healthcare costs. In severe cases, toxic black mold can cause life-threatening illnesses.

Allergens

Sources: Pollen, animals (e.g., in labs or animal husbandry), dust mites, mold. Accumulation Points: Carpets, upholstered furniture, office fixtures, HVAC systems. Health Risks: Common Issue: In office environments, allergens can cause frequent allergy symptoms, reducing employee productivity and increasing sick days. Severe Impact: Severe allergic reactions, such as asthma attacks, can be life-threatening and lead to hospitalization, especially in sensitive individuals.

Airborne contaminants may be brought on by humans, animals, internal microorganisms, body odour, or outside air. These pollutants remain in the air for hours, they settle on surfaces, and lead to a dangerous accumulation of contaminants.

Virus

Sources: Humans, contaminated surfaces, HVAC systems. Accumulation Points: HVAC systems, meeting rooms, common areas. Health Risks: Common Issue: In public buildings like airports, common viruses like the flu can spread quickly, causing widespread illness among travelers and employees. Severe Impact: The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated how quickly a virus can spread globally, leading to millions of deaths and economic disruption.

VOCs, PM

Sources: Paints, coatings, cleaning agents, building materials, printers and copiers, industrial processes. Accumulation Points: Offices, production facilities, workshops, printer rooms, buildings near heavy traffic. Health Risks: Common Issue: In office environments, VOCs from cleaning agents and office equipment can cause headaches, dizziness, and irritation, affecting worker health and productivity. Severe Impact: Prolonged exposure to high levels of VOCs and PM in industrial areas can lead to severe respiratory diseases, including lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), significantly reducing life expectancy and increasing healthcare costs.

Unpleasant Odors

Sources: Cooking (canteens), smoking, waste, chemical products. Accumulation Points: Kitchens, bathrooms, waste disposal areas, chemical storage rooms. Health Risks: Common Issue: Unpleasant odors in public places like airports can create discomfort for passengers and staff, negatively impacting the user experience. Severe Impact: In industrial settings, certain odors can indicate the presence of hazardous chemicals, posing serious health risks and potential for toxic exposure.

Reducing Indoor Pollutants

United in Our Vision

We inhale more air daily than the combined intake of water and food, yet indoor air quality is alarmingly poor—polluted, unpleasant, and harmful to our health. That’s what we aim to change.

...Copied Into Your Indoor Environment

Biosavety goes beyond these limitations by not only monitoring but actively enhancing indoor air quality. Our automated system uses advanced sensors and smart purification technology to neutralize pollutants and increase the efficiency, comfort and security of buildings continuously.

Continuously Safe and Healthy Indoor Environments

By enhancing the air's oxidizing potential, we avoid using toxic chemicals and achieve continuous pathogen and pollutant reduction. Our system only requires a small amount of saltwater, making it sustainable and cost-effective. The oxidized air is particularly beneficial for individuals with respiratory issues, allergies, and skin conditions.

Frees Employees to Focus on Core Tasks

Our automated system not only allows employees to focus on their primary duties but also ensures superior surface disinfection. While current methods only cover about 50% of surfaces effectively, our system achieves 100% coverage, reducing human error and enhancing overall hygiene.

One Integrated System for the Entire Building

Unlike other air purifiers that require one device per room, our central system connects to the building's ventilation system. This eliminates the need for multiple devices and provides comprehensive coverage. Additionally, small HOCl dispensing units are available throughout the building, allowing easy access to HOCl in reusable bottles.

Live Insights, Optimization and Reporting

Our system uses IoT technology that integrates with existing smart building systems, providing real-time data every minute and reporting all parameters. Remote sensors monitor various aspects of the indoor environment, such as humidity, temperature, HOCl levels, and CO2 levels, depending on the client's needs. This data is analyzed and delivered back to the client through our online platform, allowing for instant access, monitoring, and adjustments.

Prof. Dr. med. Clemens Bulitta, Working Group on Hospital Construction and Air Technology of the DGKH, Head of the Institute for Medical Technology at the Amberg Weiden Technical University

"Hospital-acquired infections pose significant health risks and economic burdens, leading to prolonged hospital stays and increased mortality, costing billions annually in Europe. By continuously reducing pathogens at their source, we can significantly decrease infection rates and associated costs."

"Our laboratory tests confirm the high biocidal efficacy of the oji process."

In the air, we measure a deactivation rate of all common pathogens of up to 95% per minute, depending on the chosen concentration.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Felix Herth, Head of the Thorax Clinic at the University of Heidelberg

"The existing studies from oji on reducing the danger posed by pathogenic germs in indoor air form a solid basis for the recognition of HOCl as a biocidal agent for safe air purification. From a medical point of view, the oji process makes an important complementary contribution to containing the global Corona pandemic."
